Markings on Brass prop q's

I just took a prop off a 40 hp jhonson i have and im trying to figure out what all the marks on it mean.


Inbetween the fins on the side it shows 247 m 7


On the tip it says Gan
A
smc
54

Thats looking down at it on the table

Otherwize GAN SMC 54 A


What the heck dos all that mean? Im just trying to figure out what prop would be good for tubing/skiing!!

The "gan" is probably the last three letters of Michigan. The first ones were probably not stamped in deeply enough or were worn off.

SMC 54 A would be the numbers that define the model prop. And I believe that SMC is also Michigan terminology, reinforcing my thought that the prop is a Michigan.

Unfortunately bronze props are no longer made and the fellows here on the prop forum seem to have difficulty identifying them.

Try the Evinrude/Johnson forum or try finding the Michigan website where you might be able to get help from customer service. Only other help would possibly be on the old outboard site--don't know the exact address so you need to play a bit with Google.

So no one could have a guess on what pitch the prop has??
