Marker Bouys

Anyone have recomendations for makes of marker bouys? Any easy ways to make them DIY? I mostly bottom fish offshore for Grouper, etc.

You can make them from old plastic detergent bottles-the big kind and preferably brightly colored. Use a heavy weight and make sure you have enough line to reach the bottom where you usually fish. I like parachute cord for the line since it dosn't tangle badly and runs out smooth. Wrap the line around the bottle to store and just toss it over at your spot. The big bottles may take up more room, but you know how easy it is to lose sight of a small bouy out on the salty.

I use to use marker buoys had several home made types but they always drew other fishermen. Today use a GPS and no one cane see my marker but me.

if'n i'm out ,,just hackin' around,, i'll awl punch holes in a cat food can.. ty maker bouy to it..throw overboard .. come back at days end an catch some nice catties.. <br /><br />the bouy is a small 'egg' float get at any bait shop.. i whittle a groove around the middle to hold the wrapped-up-line & sinker... line bein' 'mason string' line..<br /><br />cut a knife blade cut at tip of float an wedge line in as per not to unravel...<br /><br /><br />HEY,, HOW ELSE YA SUPPOSE TO FEED CATTIES..?? :) ..
