Anyone have experience with mid 80's Mark Twain boats. Thinking of moving up from my '72 15' Ebko tri w/105 Chrysler as I have my eye on a 20' Mark Twain vsonic w/228 and mercruiser. It needs a little TLC but I think it'll clean up real nice. Any experience shared good, bad, and what to pay closer attention too would be greatly appreciated.

Rookie <br />Mart Twians were nice boats in their day. I would check fot a soft floor and transom.

I did notice a soft floor between the engine and seats. Was this typical? Also, what is the best way to check transom?

No........soft floors were not typical. I would stay away from that unless you want to do some floor work. Mark Twain boat company used a staple gun to hold the carpet down...which created a point of entry for the water to rot the floor wood! If the engine mount stringer and transom are solid, it's not that much work to replace the floor.
