I have a 1995 9.9 hp mariner. It starts very easily and idles well. When underway, it runs well for a little while then starts running ruff as if mis-firing and really degrades as you go. When you go to idle, it runs pretty well. I thought that maybe it was a carb adjustment problem but the neddle seems to make no difference. Is the needle on this motor just for idle speed only? This seems like a firing problem that is causing one cylinder to cut out. Could this be a power pack or coil problem? Any ideas would be appreciated as i am pulling my hair out...thanks..Fred

Re: mariner problem

when is the last time the carbuerator was cleaned? I would suggest cleaning the carbs well and checking the fuel filter. Also run some sea foam in every tank of gas that goes through that engine to keep it clean. I am just a rookie but thats what I would do.
