I am wanting to install an oil pressure adapter kit on my 1998 25hp 4 stroke mariner outboard so I can feed the signal to a pressure gauge. The instructions that mercury service tech sent me shows to remove a plug from port side of powerhead and thread in the new pressure sensor .
I see no plug anywhere on the motor that could be used for this. In the diagram it shows the location being just above the filter. In that position now is the oil pressure switch that ran to a lamp alarm but was not used on previous boat.
Will the new sensor replace the switch at its location, and if so, what happens when the ight blue switch wire that runs to the ECU gets disconnected?
