mariner motor

Looking at boat 14ft alum boat with 25hp mariner motor don't know much about this motor is it any good i Heard that is is made be mercury true or false the motor is a 1987 please help so i can make my mind up.<br /><br />thanks <br /><br />phil

Cant remember when they switched..But in the early 1980's the powerheads where Yamaha on those. Maybe someone else knows when they switched?

As far as I know, Mariner has always been a Mercury with a different color and name. I don't really understand why the two names for the same motor though. Seems a little silly to me but, it seems to be working.<br /><br />Craig
