Mariner HP & Model decode.

I have a Mariner the cover says 6 tag on side says Mariner 8 cant find any info running model # 677 UL700694 any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

No idea. Might want to look around under the cover for more numbers. As I'm sure you've discovered, searching this number doesn't render any results.

1978 model year motor.
hey buddy how did you find that? I am having some issues decoding my serial plate to order the correct parts. could you point me in the right direction?

the motor from what I was told is a 1987 model its a 30hp mariner tiller steer
serial number: 331275
model: 30 ML
code: 689 L

appreciate it man, is there a specific site or chart you're using to find that info? like I said I am trying to order parts and want to make sure i'm ordering them for the right motor

My information with respect to the model year is coming from a Yamaha proprietary document.

The comment about a Mariner with a 689 prefix is based on my school of hard knocks and observations about the parts that are used on certain Mariner models.

Technically one should be ordering parts for a Mariner model using the applicable parts catalog for that model. Trouble is finding parts under Mariner part numbers for older motors is all but impossible to do.

It will be a Yamaha engine, if she’s of an age from before around 83/84…maybe even just after perhaps. But certainly early 80’s and late 70’s 8hp mariners were the Yamaha engine. As were a few others around that size too. I’d be able to tell for certain, from a picture of her.
