Re: mariner fuel pump question
yea the pressure for the fuel is 3 to 6 lbs runnin at different rpms and at wot the motor runs good at times when we first put it on the water it never missed a beat until we ran it for 20 mins then it didnt want to take off from idle then when i would get it going at wot it would die back to 4000 i put a trigger on it from another motor i had and it acts the same with this trigger as it did wit the old one i also replaced both switch boxes with ones from mallory idont have a way to check dva voltage but the dva adapater is 60 bucks and i can get a cdi stator for 145 so i cant see spending 60 bucks just to find out i need to spend another 145 any how to get the stator ......but my thoughts are the stator gets hot then something doesnt jive with it is this common.....although i did have voltages checked by a mechanic that told me the swiych boxes were bad changing the boxes helped but did not solve prob but he only checked voltages with it crankin did not start motor and my problem dont start until wot or sometimes it doesnt want to take off above idle so what he did is useless
Believe it or not, DVA readings at cranking are valid. For instance, if a high speed stator winding is bad, the voltage reading will be wrong when cranking, but it won't show symptoms until rpms are high.
You can make a DVA adapter for a few dollars if poverty is the main factor.
With fuel pressure normal, and low speed operation normal, it appears you are dropping 1 or 2 cylinders at WOT. The question is..... Which cylinders and why, ie which part is bad?
If you could find out which cylinders are mis-firing, it would help a lot. triggers lose em 2 at a time, stators 3 at a time. Switchboxes can do whatever they durned well please. Then can drop 1,2,or 3, or hold them all and screw up the other switchbox through the bias circuit. Fun, huh.
hope it helps
