I'm new to boating but I recently purchased a 14' Jon Boat w/ a Mariner engine. The engine appears to run fine but I see other outboard engines with a very visible stream of water discharging from the engine which I assume indicates that the water pump is working fine and not clogged. I don't see this on my engine. Is there supposed to a similar stream or does the water flow exit in a different fashion? I am afraid to take anything but a "test drive" until I get an answere. I plan to take it to the shop next weekend but if this is normal for this type of Mariner engine it will save me some money. I don't know the year of the engine but I believe that it is either late 80's or early 90's
