Motor is a 1993 Mariner 9.9 model 7-010201BD serial OD266344.
Ran motor all day with no issues... tried to put boat on trailer and prop stopped spinning.
Does not work in forward or reverse. Prop is NOT spun this was the first thing I checked.
When in forward and you turn prop by hand get a clicking noise like a pin or something sheared.
Prop should not spin when in gear.
I need help with how to diagnose and how to remove lower unit to check.
Thanks, Sam

First thing would be to drain the oil and see if water has gotten into it. And yes it will spin back wards and the clicking you hear is the clutch dogs. Then I would look at the shift linkage to see if its operating right.

Lower unit oil drained and was ok,
How do I check the clutch dawg and pin?
Shift linkage seems ok.. shifts ok prop does not engage properly like something is broken or sheared.

The clutch dog is part of the internal gear drive and it may very well be a broken part.
