mariner 8hp motor problem

I recently inherited a 8hp mariner outboard motor.Everytime I try to find information on this motor and enter the serial number I am told it cannot be found. The serial number is 647S28755. Can part's still be found for this motor? How do I know what year it is? Is it worth trying to get running? This motor has less than 20 hours on it. Thanks for your help.

Early 80s yamaha built mariner wonderful little motor. You will be attached to the dealer for a lot of parts but sierra has some aftermarket parts available. Yes Absolutely worth getting running. Be careful on the carb ,by the fuel niple can break it off if you pull the line off.
