Hi

Anyone know how to remove this disc so I can get to my trigger? Not sure if there is a nut holding it down. I have a washer in the shaft that won't come off or should I tap it off?

There is usually a nut in the center of the inner flywheel. Once that is removed, Mercury uses a standard fitting that screws into the large threads around the but, and a bolt thru the fitting. Tighten the bolt and hold the fitting ith a wrench, and the inner flywheel will pop off.

The flexplate should not be taken off.----Flywheel is removed as 1 unit.------Use the factory style puller ( I made one years ago.) ----Or use a puller and 2 threaded holes bolts of the 8 to do this simple job.

When you reinstall flexplate, make sure it is in the correct position, or it will screw up your ignition. It is easy to do, simply set the #1 piston to TDC, using a screwdriver thru the plug hole. Turn the flexplate until the decals indicate TDC, line up the nearest hole and install the bolts with some blue locktight on them.
