i purchased a mariner 60hp a few weeks back . i have done full gasket kit on twin carbs / on fuel pump and changed the fuel filter and renewed water pump the compression on all 3 cylinders are 125 psi and i have good spark .when i put the starter motor back on i went to start it by a jump start i have a fault on my controller cable so i disconnected it until i sorted all the problem , what is happening is the starter is going very slow it hardly turns it over . the battery is fully charged all connections are are clean i used wet and dry paper on them . the starter is smoking and the starter is hot to touch . is it the solenoid or do i need a new starter ? all help would be appreciated
