My mariner 5 has been acting up this past season. After running fine for a 1/2 hour it will suddenly die. It’ll restart after a bit and cut out again after a few minutes .I’ve had it serviced /carb cleaned (ultrasound!!) ,3 times over the past year but the problem persists.New fuel ,plug, bulb, fuel line ,connector to engine all replaced. Is it time for a new engine?
Mike.

first, welcome aboard

most likely you have crud in the fuel system. in addition to the vibratory cleaner, chase every passage with fishing line to make sure the chunks are removed and not just vibrating in a bath.

a compression test will tell you the general health of the motor (block/pistons/rings)

Had a similiar issue years back with a Johnson motor, after many days and gours of trying everything it tuned out to be a bad CDI box....my very frustated mechanic decided to whack the box with a screwdriver handle and it suddenly stopped running. Another good wack and it started back up and ran fine, another wack and it quit !! After doing this a half dozen times, we tried changing the CDI box and never had another issue!!! Might be worth taking a look.......
