HI all this is my first post...I really need some help here.I have a 1990(approx.)Mariner 30 h.p. outboard engine that has no spark.4 weeks ago I got a manual on it and found that it is actually a Yamaha built 30 h.p. motor under the MARINER name.I tested the coil, stator, and switchbox. The switchbox was tested bad.I replaced it 2 weeks ago and was running great.Today it quit with No spark again! The switch box tested bad again!I talked to a marine mechanic that told me that Mercury recommends replacement of all the ignotion components in a no spark-case due to the possibility that one of the other components may cause this from re-occuring.Can someone help me here? Serial #108426 Code 69s Model # 30E0

Re: Mariner 30 H.P. No Spark !

ALL IGNITION COMPONENTS!!!! I guess it would be good to do that, but that could cost hundreds of dollars.(Stator, coils, plugs, etc.) First of all, if they put that box in, they should replace it for free it being only 2 weeks. If it does it again, I would get another one, and take it somewhere else. Replacing all of the electrical components can't be the answer. There may be another problem, something else causing the box to go out. The mechanic should be able to find it, and remember, somtimes parts are just bad. Good luck
