mariner 2.5 litre questions

I acquired an 18' champion bass boat with a mariner engine. boat and motor are factory rigged and dated 1993. I am needing some info on the motor ie how good, how bad, performance, etc. the motor is stamped magnum, 2.5 litre, EFI. It came with a 4 blade prop and jack plate. what is the horse power of a 2.5 litre, what rpm range should it run, should i change from the 4 blade to a 3 blade for mor top-end?

Mariner is a Mercury engine re-badged. Just like Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura. It will perform and last just as well as the branded Merc 2.5. Just costs less.

HP ratings for the 2.5L Mariner/Mercury ranged from 150HP to 300HP for the drag version. Do a search for the serial # if you want to find the rating of your 2.5L here:
