I bought a 1982 Mariner 15E #684Cs251267 from storage. It is in very good condition. It has no carb. or starter.
I would to get this motor back to running. I looked for a week on the internet but came up with nothing. Does anyone out there have a casting number for the carburetor? I found a repair manual from Canada. p.s. I am new to this forum.

Re: Mariner 15E

Welcome to the forum. Its a good bunch for the most part and lots of information and help here.

If it has been stripped for parts their is a good reason, first thing i would do is make sure it has compression and that the lower unit isnt trashed. A brand new a carb is around 200 and a starter is 300 if i remember correctly. You may be able to find them at better prices.

Agreed , you need to check this motor out before spending a penny.----------When ever I buy a motor with a missing lower unit I ask myself these questions.-----------Is the powerhead good and they had a junk lower unit?----Or is the powerhead junk and they sold the good lower unit ?--------

Lower unit is good with no leaks and motor is free with good compression.

Perhaps one of those who are good with mariner / merc serial numbers will be along shortly to help out. I replaced the carb on mine last year and that ran 215.00 and a starter is 190.00 but this is on a 1996.
