mariner 15 hp oil leak lower unit

I have an oil leak coming from under the horizontal plate, directly above the prop. It appears to be coming from something that looks like a bolt cover, sort of conical looking. There are two of them on each side. I assume this is where the lower unit bolts up to. Any suggestions on how to stop it? or what procedure it is to take bolt covers off?

After closer inspection it appears to be leaking from between lower unit and foot, near cavitation plate. Is there a gasket there (I assume) Pics not currently an option. 1999 15 hp Mariner Serial # is 06767907. Also motor was laying on side for a couple of days. Does that have any negative effects on motor?

If you mean where the LU separates from the drive shaft housing, there probably isn't a gasket there. Maybe a bad seal on drive shaft or shift shaft letting oil leak into, and then out of, LU?
