Mariner 135 stalling when in neutral only ?

I have a Mariner 135 V6 on my last trip the engine started fine while i engaged the throttle into fast idol (Cold Start), but everytime i dropped it into neutral it would stall. We did notice though it would not stall in neutral if we pumped the primer bulb while it was running in neutral it would continue to run fine. It almost sounded like it wasnt getting enough gas when it would stall. I was able to still get the boat going by dropping it to neutral and into gear quickly. Once in gear the engine ran great. Also once running for a while out on the water we were able to go into neutral no problem. Anyone have any ideas of where to start troubleshooting with this? Could it be my primer bulb ? i have purchased a replacement and plan to start with this. Any other tips or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like its sucking air some place, once its going its over coming the leak.

Would replacing the primer bulb be pointless ? Also not sure if the octane effected this but have been using 89 instead of 91 octane.

89 octane is fine. Is it a premix motor at this point or are you using the oil injection?

Sounds to me like a bad fuel pump.

Could be dirty or mis-adjusted carbs. Since it runs good after it is warm, the carbs may be too lean. Maybe richen the idle mixtures slightly?

Chris, I am thinking it may be that. In the past I experienced a similar issue where it was stalling right above neutral in low gear. I will play around with the idle screws. Thanks Chris you have been extremely helpful throughout the troubleshooting process for this engine. I appreciate all of your insight.
