WOULD ANYONE KNOW WHERE I MAY FIND A MANUAL FOR A 1978 MARINE POWER 305K15 INBOARD. THE BOAT IS A CHRIS CRAFT CATALINA EXPRESS HARDTOP 28'. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPREC. THANKS
Ian,

I have the exact same boat/engine combo and have the original factory manual in my hand. It also covers the Paragon transmission. This thing is 105 pages long. If you have specific questions I will be glad to scan & e-mail pages that might help. If you are the type of person that just has to have a complete manual (I understand ), then I will be glad to look into having it copied at OfficeMax or wherever & will let you know what it would cost. Just let me know what you want/need. Best.....John
JOHN (RELENTLESS), THAT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD. I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE MOTOR, IT WOULD JUST BE NICE TO HAVE THE MANUAL ON HAND SINCE I WOULD LIKE TO DO THE MAINT. MYSELF., I JUST BOUGHT THE BOAT. IF THE COST TO COPY IT ISN'T TO BAD AND IF YOU DON'T MIND, I WOULD GO FOR IT. THANKS IAN

MY EMAIL IS: POPEYEFOGHORN@YAHOO.CA
Ya know, I've got a bunch of old manuals stacked in the corner and I know there's some old Marine Power in there somewhere. You are talking about the ones built by Thermo-electon that later became Crusader. I'll try to dig into the pile tomorrow.
Ian,
I'll try and get a price for copying the manual tomorrow & will get back to you.

Capt. Ken- FWIW the part number for the manual I have is 16.99-08786 The cover page does say both Marine Power and Thermocon.
Son of a gun, I have one. Covers both the K series and G series and that's the part no for sure. The printing date was june 1976 on the catalog's inside cover. E mail me and let me know what you want. TheCaptKen@aol.com
Ken,
Same thing...K & G series and the same printing date. I've not had the opportunity to check out a cost to copy, but sounds like you have the inside track on this little piece of business I'll bow out...but am still going to check on the cost to copy as this is not the first time this has come up.
FWIW...went to OfficeMax and was surprised to find that they would copy it for $4.00. I went ahead and had it done...copied on both sides just like the original. Took the guy about a half hour...I couldn't believe they would do that for four bucks. For about $20 they will put it on a CD...heck of a deal either way.
Relentless, wow that is cheap for a copy. But keep in mind that works out to about $100. Canadian, eh! Anyway i will keep it in mind but try to get Capt. Ken's copy first. Also its nice to know you have the same setup as me. I will surely have some questions for you. By the way have you had any problems with it & how many hours are on it? The one i bought has had very little use, so i plan to give it a good tune up in the spring.
Ian,
Don't think the exchange rate is THAT bad I went to Chicago in Aug. '97 the first time I bought this boat (long story). It had spent almost all of it's life on Lake Geneva...was owned by an old man and had only 278 hrs. on the meter. I kept it for a couple of years until a guy came along that clearly wanted it more than I did...sold it for a good profit and bought another boat. A couple of months ago a broker friend called to tell me the boat was coming back on the market...bought it again for the same money I paid the first time. So...here we go again! I always regretted selling the boat...plan to keep it this time. Just had all the cabin cushions re-done & am getting ready to go...Spring is almost here, eh? To finally answer one of your questions, the boat now has 442 hrs.
Relentless, What is the top & cruising speed of this boat? I asked the old guy I bought it from but he wasn't to sure. Also I have a question about a camper top, but being new to the forums, I think maybe it is to be posted in general boating questions, so I will.
Ian,

With a single 305, top speed on this setup is going to be in the 22 to 25 mph. range depending on fuel load & number of people aboard etc. With twins it will run around 30.
