Re: Marine Batteries - what should i buy?
I am no expert on this subject, but her is my 2 cents. Maintenance free usually means, sealed, no routine adding of water. There are two types of batteries for marine, deep cycle and cranking, cranking emit higher output over short term, deep cycle like to be slowly dischared and charged, trollong motors steros accesories and such. When I bought my first boat had 2 deep cycles, then went with a dual-pupose battery. Now i will have 2 seperate batts. 1 cranking 1 deep cycle. However new technology is everywere, the make AGM batteries, expensive, but can be mounted upside down if needed, are totaly sealed so no acid spills. So do you have alot of acc. that would be in use...Fishfinders and such, and how much draw as far as current. 1 good thing about a 90. You can always rope start it. IT CAN BE DONE, trust me on this one. Whatever you do just get a quality battery and a trickle charger to keep it in optimum condition. Most of this info came from West Marine pages on batteries, Other marine batt manufactures have websites to help you decide what you need. Was also told nothing below 1000 CCA. Perhaps others will reply with more info, but Hope this helps, even if it's just a little bit of help!

Yo HO HO ...
