I am hopeful that Nancy Reagan can attend her funeral, just as Mrs. Thatcher attended Ronnie's. That was a CLASS ACT when she did that. Further proof that she was indeed a special person. I will miss her, a lot.

I had a Great Aunt Bridget in Scotland who was the spitting image of the late great M. Thatcher. We called her "the PM" , but never within earshot or she would nail you with the nearest potato or onion from the kitchen. I last saw her in 1982 when I was at Holy Loch delivering supplies to the sub base. She passed at 94 shortly after. They were both impressive, stern women.

Strong Lady whether you liked what she did or not. Lived in England through most of her Prime Minister years. She did little to nothing for the north of England in my humble opinion and a fair bit for the south. The one good thing she did for me was made me move to Canada. Have to thank her for that.
May she R.I.P.

A friend of mine - a native-born Scotsman now living in France - tells me that she was despised in Scotland, and in England too, by the "common" people. The feeling is that she pretty much destroyed the unions and catered to the big money people.

All I remember is that she took over a very confused, disorganized country and brought structure to it. And of course, the Falklands issue. Also, she and Reagan got along famously.

Yeah, she was a tough old bird.
Definitely worked to completely shut down the Union-labour movement in the U.K....which like most modern unions of the time, seriously needed it.
She did some good but when she was wrong she was way wrong.
People like that are good for the system tho'....they really shakes things up often at the right time and when things really need to be shaken...not stirred.:D
