I have recently purchased a 1962 Volvo Penta AQ100 sn 9440. Can anyone point me to a manual?......david

Hi David, welcome to iboats!!<br /><br />Me thinks you got a classic. I hope you have deep pockets.<br /><br />I can't help with a manual but I can give you some information.<br /><br />100hp 4 cyl 1.8L. The motor is a marinised volvo car engine, the (B18). <br /><br />The outdrive is simply known as the 'aquamatic' (hence the 'AQ' reference). It was the very first outdrive built by VP. This is the package that spurred mercruiser into developing their own outdrive.<br /><br />Aldo

Hello Dunaruna do you think I would have more luck trying an auto service for finding a manual? The engine runs by pouring gas in carborators, but I need specs for tune-up etc. Thanks,......david

I'm not sure if the twin carby's are from an auto or are marine specific, I'm thinking that (maybe) in 1962 VolvoPenta used the auto version. Regardless, the gaskets should be the same.<br /><br />I have recently cleaned out and rebuilt twin carbs (SU sidedraughts) on a triumph spitfire (circa 1964), easy job.<br /><br />The twin downdraughts are easy to rebuild. Get some numbers of the carbs and visit napa - you never know your luck.

If you can find the engine number, see if it starts with B18B or B18D.<br /><br />These are car specs, they may be different to marine but they got to be closer than guessing .<br /><br />B18B - <br />Twin SU-HS6 carbys. Max RPM 5500. Plug gap 0.028-0.032". Points 0.016-0.020". Idle 600-800RPM. Timing 17-19 @1500RPM. Valve clearance (cold, inlet & exhaust) 0.016-0.020". Spark plug type - Bosch W200T35. Dwell 59-65.<br /><br />B18D - <br />Same carbs. Max RPM 5000. Plug gap same. Point gap same. Idle RPM 500-700. Timing 22-24 @1500RPM. Dwell same. Valve clearance 0.016-0.018. Spark plugs - Bosch W175T1.<br /><br />The B18D is a low compression version of the B18B. A lot of the engine parts are interchangable with the later B20 (2L) engine.

Hi there! New to iboats...
There is some info on the VP website in .pdf files; ownwer's manual including some engine data and tightening torques.
I do have a copy of "volvo aquamatic 100 outdrive service" from the internet, about four pages. If I find the website again, I will let you know.
For engine parts, you can try Swedish Treasures Vintage Volvo Parts, I did and they had a lot of parts with reasonable prices.
Btw, I own a aq110/100 so if you have any questions, let me know.
