I have a 25Hp Evinrude outboard, that has an adjustable pin for setting the motor's trim. There are about 6 settings.

How should I set this?

Re: Manual Trim Adjustment - help!

Welcome aboard pgott!!

I am going to move this over to the non-repair Outboard section.

The best answer is testing on the water. If she is hard to plane move further down (in) if she planes OK and you want more speed go further up (out). Other issues are burying the bow, then adjust up (out). If the bow seems too high in the air at speed adjust down (in). Sort of a feel and experience thing.

Another tip is to only make one adjustment at a time. Move it one hole at a time and then retest, and don't combine with other changes, like moving weight around. Do things independently and you'll learn more about that specific change

I had a manual adjust till I got CMC tilt trim, ewith just the pin it is always set at a comprimise and is really on right at one speed, what works well at WOT won;t do so good at trolling speed.

I found the hole that worked best at full throttle then went down one figuring that was a good comprimise.
