2nd topic of the day..
Having a day of trying to get my engine fully working today, and wouldn't you adam and eve it, the tilt has seized...
Mariner 60 (old old old one).
There are two small levers which you shold be able to move, and then the unit will raise/lower (as far as i can tell).
Well, i can get these to move a little, with use of a hammer (not too hard as I didn't wanna damage anything)... However, I don't think they are moving as far as they should.
So, i have taken a look at mid section, and think I have figured out how it works. There is a C shaped metal plate, which drops over a pin (the pin that adjusts the angle of the outboard). The C shaped clips/brackets etc are attached to a plate, which is attached to a bar.. the bar goes into the lower part of the engine.
Now, I am assuming this is to do one of two things..
to check the engine is out of gear/not running when the engine is tilted..
Now... when I move the clips on the side of the engine (the tilt release clips) should the bar from the lower part of the engine unlock the C shaped brackets, thus allowing the engine to tilt freely?
Sorry for being a bit vague with some of my descriptions, im not well versed in the tech names for the parts of an outboard
