manual tilt pin

Can a manual tilt pin be used on a motor that has power trim and tilt to limit the negative trim or down trim on a 90hp merc? Kinda use it as a stop.

I am no expert however i use mine for that purpose, can be used for trailering but not a good idea. rather have a hyd stop for that purpose.
