Here we go again. Another new problem. After hunting today and making it almost to the ramp, motor stalls, go to restart it and the manual starter is not engaging the flywheel. I haven't taken it apart yet but thought I would post on here so maybe I would know what to look for. The pully system seems to be working fine and it recoils, but somethings come loose.

Thank for any help.

Re: manual starter problem

from what i gather the rope is recoiling, but the pawl are not catching flywheel when the rope is pulled. remove the recoil, do not disassemble, just clean up and lube the pawls. the retry, if they are broken, you can look up the part number at "http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Literature/?popup=true" you can also see the complete motor here, and parts list. take a look before you begin.

If it was cold, those pawls do stick.

If it's sticky, clean it up and use a very light oil on it.

The plastic clip that the 2 wires that hold the, I guess spring, around the center of the starter broke. I was lucky it happened when it did. whew! All I need is a new clip and I'm in business. I did clean and lube it up. Thanks.
