Re: Manual choke cable

Try your Local lawn mower shop. Boats don't use choke cables like that.

Have you considered actually fixing your choke properly?

Re: Manual choke cable

This carb has one that operates off the manifold heat...from what I understand there is a hole on the underside that might be clogged, preventing it from working. It also doesn't close properly while cold...Help me out!

What is the model number of your engine. Mercruise did not use a 302 Chevy. There were 302 Fords, and 305 Chevys. Is there a Merc SN? There should be a tag just above and aft of the starter, on the block of the engine.

Re: Manual choke cable

It may just be the choke coil that mounts on the manifold is dead, or it could be the passage for the hot air coming from the head is plugged up and you need to pull the intake and check it out. You would then need a gasket set.
Any of the problems are cheaper and will work better in the long run than your 20' lawnmower choke cable.

Sorry to change the subject but I have to ask. What is the big 3" diameter piping going to the stern for?

I saw that too and wondered if that was some sort of "aftermarket" fuel hose.

That hose needs a valve, a three inch hole can flow ALOT more water than your bilge pump.
