My 3.8 OMC has a manifold with the riser at the rear. OMC is the only source for this manifold, which makes it pricey. There are manifolds available from aftermarket with the riser in the middle which fit 4.3 heads. These are cheaper than the OEM part and I believe that they will fit my head since both the 3.8 and 4.3 heads take the same exhaust gasket and look identical.
Has anybody tried going from a rear to a center riser and how has it worked out?
This is going into an I/O unit, by the way.
Thanks

I haven't tried this conversion ,but I do see some dificulties. You will need to buy a good length of exhaust hose for this project[not cheap]then you will have to make it bend the almost 90 degrees to mate it to your intermediate. Are the elbow and intermediate connections the same O.D.?
