Manifolds and Risers

How long do Manifolds and risers typically last on FWC systems. I estimate they are ~4 years old. Was hoping to get another year out of them due to the purchase of the new heads and, manifold, etc.....

What's the best way to clean up the outside so I can paint?<br /><br />I removed the riser and manifold as one unit.......

Tony, hot engines, more than 145 F cause minerals in the water to stick to the hot metal parts which choke off the cooling. Your choice.

Engine barely ran at 150*.....it has a complete FWC'd system.......including the manifolds.

I don't think you'll be needing Manifolds for a Long Time,..............<br />The Risers are another thing thou.........<br /><br />I Wonder how long the SSteel Risers last in Saltwater,..???.......<br /><br /><br />BTW,........ You should get that Temp. Up,.. Being an Antifreeze cooled motor...........

i have seen ss risers ten years old that looked barely used in salt water runing. if your risers are cast iron its time for a swap out.
