manifold question

I went to put the plugs back in my manifold and riser to run the motor today. They where very rusty around the holes and I had to chase the threads to get the plugs to start. Would this indicate a larger problem with the manifold and riser itself? I was going to wait till next year to pull them for inspection.

Re: manifold question

Not at all, some people leave them in after draining the manifolds and block.

But chasing them is no problem ether.

Re: manifold question

they just seemed rather rusty around the holes. the threads on the plugs were very worn too, so I replaced them with new ones. I guess I sometimes forget this motor is 25 years old. still running strong though.

Ayuh,...

If you were running in the Saltwater,... I Might be alittle concerned....
Even in Sweetwater,...
It's pretty Normal to chase the threads in the spring,+ replace worn plugs....
Especially on Old Iron,....;)
