I have a 1985 MANATEE 19' BowRider which had a 115 yamaha on it. Im told the 115 is slightly under powered for this boat, I have a possibility of getting a 1986 Evenrude 150.....is it too large for the boat? I have been unable to find any specs page for this boat any where....any help?

Re: Manatee 19' Bowrider 1985 Specs?

I remember reading specs when I bought my 20 (actually 20'9" registered as 21) Manatee cuddy. The cuddy is rated for 180 and currently I have a 150 on it. It tops out at about 40-43 depending upon load.

It is actually a stretched 18 foot cuddy as all other measurements besides length are the same. I think --and that is a big think-- that the 18 was rated for 150 so I don't think you will be overpowered. However, in the brochure, the 18 was powered with a 90 which I thought was regressive.

The Manatee is relatively narrow at the transom so you may find the big Rude will push the splashwell drain hole close to the water at rest. If you are taking her out on the sound to fish, you may get water in the splashwell and over the transom from wave action. Install a BIG bilge pump if you mount the OMC 150.

What happened to the capacity plate? Boats over 20 do not require them but hulls under 20 foot are required by law to have one.
