malibu/indmar no ecu/erratic guage display

Posting from mobile. This.will be short.
Motor is a multi port fi monsoon 340 in an 07 wakesetter vlx..
Initial prob was a no start condition along with a "no ecu" alert.. upon finding broken.regulator plug on alt..replaced and able to start. Wedge and guages flake out and or don't operate at all. Some web search has had us searching low.voltage, bad ground, conections and ground bus under console....so far all good. Owner currently having both batteries tested.
The guage module is a medallion minimmdc ver 3.3... any other course of action before hnting down.the long distance dealer... owner getting on the phone with indnar today to.see if therey have anything to offer. Trying to help the guy out always taking the kids out and now the boat is down..trying to lend him a hand with any info so figured I'd check here at IBOATS. thanks so much

Start by checking batteries, how did the regulator bolt break off? If batteries test OK then move to starter, you should have 12 volts in to selenoid from battery, check ground to engine from batteries, fire engine and check alt output, should be somewhere around 13 to 14 volts, if you have all that and no ECM dropouts then chances are you have a short under dash if all gauges are dropping out. Start with wiggle tests on wiring under dash while key is on to see if gauges drop out. If no issues found on wiggle test then check power at ignition switch and wiggle key to make sure you don't have a switch issue....goodluck
