Gonna be getting me a new project and I'm already full of questions including whether or not am I even in the right forum? I have a Malibu owner manual which is worth poop. The engine says "GM vortex" and then just malibu on the exhaust manifolds, would this be an Indmar motor? The plate is none existant on the transmission, all it says is Hurth Marine on it.

The issue:
The boat hit an object pretty good. X-Owner said he was cruiser about 1/3 wot and hit (?) heard a loud bang. Craft would move very slow for about 3 min then had to be towed in. No water came into the boat, fluids all look good, prop (brass four blade pretty banged up), drive shaft now squeals when turned because it's rubbing on hull (needs replaced), and drive shaft coupler met feeler gauge specs which scares me. Furthermore, if remote control throttle is placed in fwd, neu, or rev it doesn't matter, the shaft can still be turned by hand in any direction.
I've never done an overhaul on one on these trans but I'm interested in rebuilding myself....anyone yell at me through their cpu yet? I'd like to get some more information and read some user experiences before I get to jumpy into this project. Can someone lead me in the right direction please? I hope I've supplied enough details for you all to be able to help me.
