I am starting a new project for my 19' aluminum boat. I do a lot of night fishing with crappie lights, and would really like to mount thru-hull lights down the bottom sides of the boat.

I am amazed as the incredibly high price of these lights!!!

Has anyone here ever made these type of lights themselves with bronze thru-hull fittings?

If so please advise. I cannot see spending $300 to $1300 per light since I would want to mount about six, 3 or 4 on each side.

This thread gives me a sinking feeling:)

However maybee you could use a through hull with hoses protruding above the water line. Then you could use fiber optic cables and a light generator. Pass the fiber down the hose to with water in it to the hull line. Could work..

No electricity in contact with water, and nothing to fail under the waterline.
