maintenance

I hear a lot of talk about maintanance on here, (and yes i know i spelled it wrong) Im relatively new to outboards and completely new to my 79 235 evinrude. What kind of maint. schedule would you recomend? How often and what parts? Also would like to buy a manual and parts manual. Can someone tell me where to get them?<br />Thanks

Depending on the hour use on your motor there are several periodic maintenance items.I'll list afew . The others will be touched on in your factory manual.<br />-Lubrication of throttle linkage points<br />-Lower unit oil change and inspection<br />-Fuel filter change or clean<br />-Carb adjust to include link and synch<br />-Sparkplug change or clean and regap<br />-Grease swivel bracket and tilt bushings<br />-Inspect fuel hoses and change as necessary<br /><br />You can obtain a general manual at the bottom of this page or a factory.Here's a couple of sites for factory manuals. <br /><br />factory manual 1 <br /><br /> factory manual 2
