Maintenance Manual for 61-63 Merc 500

I have a 61-63 Mercury outboard, 50 hpr that I need to find a repair manual for. I can't seem to find anything on the internet for Mercury motors older than 1964. If I find a manual am I going to be able to get parts for the motor, or am I just waisting my time trying to get it running?

I just got the motor and it turns over but does not start. I don't know when the last time it ran was, but it doesn't look to bad. The rod that conects the two carbrator butterflies together is broke in half. I don't know if or what else may need repaired. I thought if I can find a repair manual I could open up the motor and see how warn things look, put some new seals on and hopfully get it running. My brother gave me the boat & motor so I don't have a problem putting a few dollars into the motor it I can get it running.

Check for spark first i will bet you do not<br />have any. If not write back.<br />Then go and put new points in and all the<br />replacement on the dist.<br />Rex A. Hubble
