Mailbox Full Notification

Hi folks. I just got an email notification that my mailbox is full. I believe that someone tried to send me a private message that could not be delivered. So, I've now deleted some stored emails and it appears that there is room for new messages. What concerns me is that it seems that a member receives notification only after another member has put effort into composing and sending a message that as far as I know is lost in the ether. Technically, my mailbox was full before the latest message (actually it must have been sitting full for the last several weeks).

Is it possible to be notified that my mailbox is full before someone attempts to send me a message?
Perhaps I could be notified when I have 49 messages that the next one is the last of the 50 quota. That way, I have an opportunity to clear some messages without inconveniencing another member.

That is a good suggestion, I will see if there is an option available to notify you when you reach a certain limit.

After looking into it, the only notification set up is email. So when your inbox is full, and someone tries to message you, you get an email saying they've attempted to contact you but your messages are full.

Thanks toneeees. Yes, that's the way it seems to work. Is the refused message lost or can it be accessed/delivered once the box is emptied? - Grandad

The iboats forum software won't let me send a PM if the recipient's PM box is full. It refuses to process it. Of note is that if you leave the pending message open in a browser window for to long (tonight it was 'only' about 20mins) waiting to send it later, the iboats software token will time out, and the message will be lost. So either copy & paste it somewhere else for safe keeping, post the message/reply elsewhere on the forum or re-compose the message entirely once you've gotten a
'I cleared out my PM box'
response.....

Depending on the nature of my PM, I will often post a:
Your PM box is full
reply on the recipient's primary thread.

Generally, PMs have been something along the lines of a specific question someone's asked me about a specific aspect of their resto. So I'll just post the PM text to their resto thread.

On a snowmobile forum I belong to they have a bar that shows how full the inbox is, every pm moves the bar closer to 100%. Just an idea....

We too have the same notification bar, it's just below the messages.
