Hi, I've been hooked on all these amusing stories and figured I'd share one from my youth. My Brother and I had wanted a boat for a year or two and my dad finally gave in and let us get a used 19' bowrider with a ford v8. We took it for a test run and were very satified so we bought it. The owner delived it to our house and that weekend we decided to take it out. My dad had never pulled a trailer before so my brother and I were nervous the hole way to the ramp. We make it there no problem, but then at the turn to parking lot, my dad clips the left trailer wheel the guard rail and cocks the axle 3" off center. So we jack it up and move it forward so we can launch the boat, moor it, and take the trailer to a repair shop. So we finally back it down the ramp, launch it, and start off at cruising speed, we forgot to put the running lights in, so my dad backs off the throttle to do that, and the boat stalls! Will not start! After waiting 45min, we radio the harbor patrol who tows us back to ramp. So we decide to wait on going to the repair shop and just concentrate on getting home. We make it back (doing 15mph!). While my dad was "venting" in the house, my brother and I decide to see if we can get the boat started on the flush attachment. Still refuses. So I jam the throttle down and try. VROOOMM!!!!! Reved so high my dad heard it inside and thought the boat had exploded. Apparently the electric choke wire fell off during the trip (or from the impact with the guard rail). So, After that pretty stressful day, It turned out to only cost us a replacement spring hanger for the trailer, and inspecting the engine compartment. Funny, who ever thinks to check the simple things? From then on, my dad learned that when trailering, wide turns are best.
