Okay its time for me to tell about my bad day. My wife and I was going to the river about 20 min away to do a lil. fishing. We made all of ours stops and get to the landing and unload the boat without a problem. I parked my truck and as I'm walking back my wife ask," Do you have the boat KEY....". mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. That right I did not have them. When I go back home to get the key my wife says," I don't want to go anymore". ( Oh the fun

Re: Mad wife!!!!!

hehehe, In the summer I throw a spare set in the glove box of the boat for just that reason! Saved me 60 minute round trip back home on one occasion. I used to keep a set in the tackle box. That's the kind of mistake you usually only make once.<br /><br />GIDDYUP--<br /><br />Kramer

Re: Mad wife!!!!!

Have a small cabin on a lake but try not to leave keys for boats etc as takes very little to keep honest people honest but need a fortress to keep scum out. <br /> I have also went to go boating/fishing(new pontoon, second time out) but lo and behold no keys. I now leave a key on my keyring which has my ignition key for the truck, key for cabin, key for the boat, and a key for the shed. I also leave another key on my other set of keys for the cabin, truck, and shed. I might jingle when I walk but no longer stranded.

you're lucky. in 10yrs she'll remind you of how much she wanted to go out, but it was all your fault because you forgot the keys... ;) i only offer to take my wife if the daughter is going, then when the little girl is actually having a great time, the wifie can't fake it anymore ;)

Re: Mad wife!!!!!

1st time out as new boaters my wife was driving boat on trailer, I was hooking up bow cable. She missed, tried to back up, turned around in the shallow water near ramp and got skeg/prop stuck in mud. Threw the throttle forward and started making muddy water. I screamed to stop and had to wade into early May Michigan water to push her free. Finally got the boat loaded and on the way home I asked why she gave throttle when she was stuck...her reply-"I floor the car when it starts to get stuck"...my reply-"if the the prop is stuck and the motor is given throttle somethings gotta turn. If the prop isn't the boat will and your end up upside in the water" She has never been aggressive with the throttle since and I always load the boat from then on!<br /><br />I never told her the truth yet. I would rather she be cautious around shallow water. I know that's mean but hey...

Re: Mad wife!!!!!

I have forgot and lost many a key in my life. Several years ago I learned the Department of Redundancy Department method. I keep spare keys to everything. I keep a car key on the boat and a boat key in the car. I keep spares to everything in a pouch that I keep in my pants pocket. I keep a spare key to my office tied to the fence in the back lot. I keep spares to all vehicles in my tackle bag and tool box. I keep spares to other vehicles I own in all the other vehicles I own. I keep a spare to my apartment nailed to a tree near my apartment. Used to do the same when I lived in a house. Can't stand to be locked out or not have the key I need.

Re: Mad wife!!!!!

seems like I am the luckiest guy around here...<br />MY wife is a cali native (long beach) and grew<br />up on big boats. her dad, admiral PIMA, is nuts<br />about lil things like properly stowing lines etc.<br />anyways, since we's across the steet from the erie<br />canal and there a nice big pond that feeds of the<br />canal right down the road, we pick up a cheapo<br />boat from a local farmer.. late 60's larson tri.<br />boat is docked across the street in the water 24/7.<br />one of her girlfriends is visitin one day and she<br />decides to take her for a short run in the boat.<br />so they take about a 10 min. ride down to the<br />"wide waters" and play around for awhile.<br />dusk sets in and they prepare to return home,<br />cept...<br />never stowed the stern line! <br />thank god it was a lil 40 rude and not MY 115 merc!<br />prop gets wrapped, old cable steerin buckles, and<br />the larson is headin for shore rocks (canal is not<br />very wide)<br />experience made her throw it into reverse hard and<br />fast, so minimal hull dmg...<br />I give her credit for jumpin in to try to free the<br />prop, but she couldn't. she got a short tow from<br />a passer-by shortly, but that steering was never<br />the same after that :p <br />several people laughed as they were towed up to<br />the dock across the street...<br />I still tease her to this day :p

Re: Mad wife!!!!!

i have a little red "push"style button switch that is hard wired for my starter, i also have the key, just for looks, but it is bypassed, and you have to flip another black switch not even near the red one to get anyof them to work... never ever lost a key and never will
