1969 Merc 650, ser.#2604844, shut down last week, once at WOT, one at idle, once at about half throttle, all on the way home from a long day on the Ocean where it ran perfectly. Never shut it off for 6 hours. Coming in it started to cut out just like you were turning the ignition switch on and off quickly. It wasn't sputtering or missing just on/off. Fuel seems to be fine. Ran it for about 1/2 hour in the driveway today, no problem.

After it shut down on last weeks trip it wouldn't start for about 5 mins. Is this a normal symptom of the switch box going bad? or what are you experiences with these symptoms. After looking at the Seloc manual my switch box doesn't look like any in there. Mine has four terminals on one side, none anywhere else. From bottom to top: Green to the coil, then white, blue and red.

Would it crank during the 5 minutes it wouldn't start? If so I would check the three wires going into the distributor. One of mine came loose after a while and caused identical symptoms.
Eric

It cranked fine during the non running time. I removed the distributor yesterday, checked all of the wiring inside and out. Found a loose battery cable but seems like if it was cranking that shoudn't have affected the ignition. I ran it in the driveway yesterday for 45 mins and it ran perfect. Hmmm. Going to take it out tommorrow and see if I get marooned
