Buy the one that is best supported by your local dealer. They are about equal in my eyes and you do end up paying a bit more for the Lund name.

Re: lund vs smokercraft

From my experience working at dealers for Lund and Legend (smoker craft builds their hulls) they are not comparable. Test drive both and you will see from the ride why the Lund has a more expensive price tag on it. The ride quality and build quality of a Lund is far superior. This is just my opinion but I do urge you to test drive both to form your own opinion. And for the record I do not work in powersports anymore so my opinion is not based on what I sell.

I owned a 15 ft side console smoker craft and would not say the lund is far superior , i thought it was just as good or better , but have never rode in a lund

I really don't think they are than far apart and you would do well with either one, the Lund has the bigger name and is mass produced where the Smoker is made in a much smaller factory by a family owned buisness, Smoker is 10 minutes from my house.

Both have been around for a very long time and both are a good quality boat, just pick the one that best fits what you want to do and as Bob said, if this is new go with the dealer you think you can best work with.

Disect a Lund and Smokercraft and you will see why the Lund has the better name, better resale, better ride, dryer ride, and performs better. You are comparing boats from opposite ends of the quality spectrum. Is the Smokercraft a bad boat -- of course not but is a Ford Focus in the same league as a BMW 323? Don't think so.

Re: lund vs smokercraft

Have never owned a Smokercraft but I do own a Lund. It's 28 years old. Not a leak or a sqeak anywhere in the boat. Replaced the decking 2 summers ago and the foam under it was in fantastic condition and the transom board is also solid. So the original decking was 26 years old and most likely would have lasted longer if it hadn't been neglected by the P.O. It really did have small saplings growing in the carpet when I found it.

My next one will be another Lund!
