Whose hull is best, who's is worst? Are any of the aluminum hull manufacturers better than others? Whose should you stay away from? Some years better than others?

Re: Lund - Alumacraft - Crestliner - Starcraft?

I have an Alumacraft, I fish several weeks each year with friends who have a Lund, one of my daughters has a Crestliner, and my other daughter has a MirroCraft. All of them are aluminum hulls, very different boats except for the Lund and Alumacraft which are near duplicates of each other and all are excellent boats. They range in age from 1995 (MirroCraft) to 2005 (Crestliner). Lund, Alumacraft, and Crestliner all have good resale with the Lund usually commanding a tad more but costing more in the beginning. In todays market you decide what type of boating you are going to do whether its fishing, cruising, overnighting, combo fish/ski, fish/cruise, etc. The pick the boat that you like the best. All of them have at least one good and bad point and those are pretty much in the eye of the beholder. Aluminum boats are lighter, therefore require less power, they tow easier than glass boats with I/O's or outboards. Glass looks nicer. Whatever lights your fire is what you will be happiest with.
