New to this forum and looking for advice..all comments welcome!!
I am looking at a 2150 baron grand sport to purchase
the yr is 1996..its powered by a 5.7 merc cruiser..(alpha one i believe).
the boat is in fantastic condition..very clean..no dings..etc..
My biggest concern is its size..this damn thing looks huge on a trailer!
after fishing on a smaller 15 foot sylvan with a 60 ob..im looking to upgrade..
We do travel in big water occasionally..but mostly in a smaller lake chain..that is fairly weedy..
I realize that this boat will be harder on fuel..etc..but i'm hoping this is my "forever" boat..
any comments on this boat..positive or negitive would be appreciated..

Re: Lund 2150 Baron grand sport

I had a 2050 Lund Baron same motor, but not the grand sport model. Best tin boat made, actually the ONLY tin boat I would take out on big water like Lake Erie. I'd not hold back now on the ocean either. Potential problems are engine compression and floor/transom softness. The Baron is the Rolls Royce of tin boats, all others a Yugo in comparison. Had her for years and the only problem was a hose blew once. I had 3 Sylvans too, great boats but nothing like the Baron including the Sylvan 22' Fisherman with the cuddy. The Baron could be your forever boat as they are built like a tank- your grandchildren may see it as their forever boat too. The reason the Baron is the most expensive tin boat sold is because it is the best one! Lots of freeboard-- nothing to complain about!
