Oil additives are a waste of $$. Spend it on a quality oil and filter and change regularly.

If you are hopeing to put something in the engine to magicly cure your popping and lack of rpm, forget it.

ok no problem, thought 1/2 that stuff on the shelf at the autostore was worthless. But my original question was , is it bad for the engine and/or problem. what does it do, Nothing? Because when we did the oil change, he added it, agood bit too, like one of those-- what are those quart sized bottles, cant remember.
----------------------------------------------
hopeful 86bayliner

Just out of curiosity, how did your boat run before you did the tuneup and oil change? Did it work before or has all your problems started since all the preventive maintenance and oil changes?

Re: Lucas Oil additive, Is it good to use?

The problems i had before, were a squeeling belt and sometimes it took a minute to get it started. But cruised like a champ. One instance though, I had it moving around 40mph @ WOT for about maybe a 20 mile stretch, i lett off the throttle a little some momments. Only problem i had and not sure if its related was, i turned it off just before going back to the dock to relax a minute. When we were ready to go , It took me atleast 15 minutes to get it started, I thought a little over heat maybe let it cool down a minute try again. After starting we went home, and later i put a new battery in it to help the starting. Then I started on this project, rounded up cap , rotor, plugs, oil, lucas , cause thats what shady tree mechanic ordered(for those of you who dont know)my neighbor lol...

After the work was done,it fired up on first turn of the key, heard the popping and thought it was just maybe some junk burning and would go away. thought nothing of it till i really felt the differences on the water and having to hear the annoying popping sound.

The louder i rev the engine in nutural , the worse the popping gets , seems like it wants to blow up. ugly sounding, to me anyway.

I bet if i had just changed the belt to get rid of the squeel it would still be hauling a$$.
thats just how i feel. but i know its a good thing to get all of that stuff done anyway.

thanks a bunch
86bayliner nube

It won't hurt the engine, but change the oil again if you are concerned.
