The shift cable is very tight on my 704 remote. Or maybe its the shifter in the motor cowling. Not sure which. Is there a way to lubricate it? Its only tight near the middle at the detent when you come back to neutral. Also, if you press the button to just throttle the motor its smooth as silk so I know its the shifter side of the remote.
