"Lube oil in cooling water"

How did you determine that?

Do you have the parts breakdown? Maybe that would give you an idea where the thermostat (if it has one) is located.

I think they have parts breakdows available online at http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com

It may be a wrong assumption, but appears to heavy oil/grease draining draining from lower unit water drain, and at exhaust relief outlet. Too much for exhaust oil, or so it appears. Also, running in tank, water becomes greasey very fast, and I am losing lower unit lube.

I will try to find a parts callout. Thanks

If you are losing oil from your lower unit, then water will be replacing it in the lower unit. Time to replace the seals in the lower unit.
