LU Question 1975 70hp Evenrude

I need to drop the LU on my 1975 70 hp Evenrude to replace the impeller. All I see are 4 bolts, is this all that holds the lower unit on or is there something I am missing.

You should have 4 bolts on the outside, one underneath the trim tab plate and one underneath just behind the trim tab. Make sure to use OMC gasket sealer on these bolts and the water impeller housing when you reinstall, prevents the bolts from sticking from corosion next time you have to remove them and makes sure the water housing is sealed.

You will also need to disconnect the shift rod

Can you expand on disconnecting the shift rod? Where do you disconnect it. Thanks........
