Lowrance Skimmer-How fast can it run?

I bought the boat in my signature last year. The first time I really let it run to speed the skimmer transducer on my transom broke right off the boat. Now I want to confess that I haven't owned one of these before so I may have set the pivot tension incorrectly. May have set it too tight. I got myself a new one after the season ended and it is on the boat now.
My question is how fast can I run this thing? And should it be really loose on the pivot? Just enough tension to prohibit a droop?
I really like the info it provides, nevermind that it cost me some money.

Sounds like you had it set too deep. I have ran them up to 65 MPH with no problem. It should be snug so it will kick up if it hits something.

thanks for the thought. I will start it high and keep as little as possible wet.
