Lowrance LSS2 ideal transducer mounting location

Hi All,

I have had my HDS Gen 2 unit for a while now, and someone at the ramp told me that he thought my mounting configuration might be wrong. After I did some research I see a lot of people mount it different spots. Some people say I should have the 83/200 on the right side of the LSS2 and lower. Some people say the LSS2 should be lower then the 83/200 and at least 6" apart but not more then 12" apart. I have seen pictures of the LSS2 being very close to the outboard (6"). I was told that it needs to be at least 12" from the prop.

So I took it apart and installed a transducer mounting plate so I don't keep drilling into the transom. What would be the ideal spot?
I was thinking in the following two spots in my picture, but want to see which transducer needs to be lower and which one needs to be higher.

As always thanks for the help

Hi,

Yes I do lose bottom when planing. Before I go out on Saturday I would like to get these in the right place. I was told that the skimmer was to high
I was also told that it needs to be just below the hull. What I am not sure about is how high the LSS2 needs to be? Also how far apart and if the LSS2 needs to be on the left side of the skimmer (opposite from what it was)

The link you provided does not work :(

Thanks
Zipp

Don't you need new control cables? This one will work. Sorry, must have forgotten to copy the link. http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...0284-001_w.pdf

There is drawing in the link of the the two transducers and the requirements. One thing for sure - A transducer must be in the water to work. That's why you lose bottom on plane.

Thank you... I am not sure what you mean by "new control cables"
